About Us
Formative Law has been providing legal services for almost two decades. Our practice is primarily focused on conducting workplace investigations and delivering training related to employment, labour, and human rights matters.
Formative Law operates as an association of lawyers with experience conducting workplace investigations across a broad range of public and private sector organizations.
In the public sector, our work has included mandates arising in national and provincial law enforcement, border and security services, defence and military-related environments, revenue and regulatory agencies, federal government departments, and court and judicial services.
In the private sector, we have conducted investigations for financial institutions, including development and commercial lending organizations; public transportation and mass transit authorities; and organizations operating in internationally active industries, including the pharmaceutical and beverage sectors. Our experience also includes work for healthcare organizations, such as physician clinics, as well as non-profit and charitable organizations, including those operating in the mental health sector.
Over the years, we have conducted hundreds of independent and unbiased third-party workplace investigations involving allegations of harassment, discrimination, misconduct, abuse of authority, and other workplace concerns. These investigations have ranged from discrete and straightforward matters to highly complex mandates, including those involving broader, systemic organizational issues. In appropriate cases, our work has included identifying underlying structural concerns and providing recommendations aimed at organizational or process-level change.
To preserve neutrality and independence, Formative Law does not act as counsel in employment or human rights litigation. Our services are limited to investigative and advisory functions, including workplace investigations and related training, allowing us to approach each matter with objectivity and independence.
